What Is Microneedling?

What to Expect During the Treatment

Your journey begins with a personalised skin consultation at DREAM Skin Aesthetics in Halifax. The skin is cleansed and prepared and numbing cream can be applied if needed although better results are obtained without. The treatment can feel scratchy, especially on bony areas such as the forehead and jawline but is very tolerable.

A microneedling device is then passed across the treatment area, creating thousands of tiny, controlled microchannels in the skin and driving the products into the skin. A calming sheet mask is applied and ice globes are used to give a soothing massage to reduce redness and make the treatment more relaxing.

The treatment typically takes around 45 minutes.

Aftercare and Recovery

Mild redness, sensitivity, or a sunburn-like feeling is common for the first 24–48 hours. You are advised to avoid make up for at least 24 hours and direct sun exposure and harsh skincare products for a few days whilst the skin heals.

How Long Do Results Last?

Results from microneedling are both immediate and progressive. After the first session, you may notice a healthy glow and improved skin texture within 1–2 weeks. Collagen remodelling continues for several months, with optimal results seen after a series of treatments.

As collagen production and depletion are an ongoing process, microneedling should be used as a regular maintenance treatment.

An initial course of treatments is recommended to treat moderate-severe signs of ageing, with regular maintenance sessions moving forwards.
